Bangor MudDogs

The Muddogs were founded in October 2007 by four Bangor University students, who shared an interest in American Football. These were Peter Williams, Chris Shenton, Mark Paget & Chris Hildebrand. They saw a gap in American Football, with no team in North Wales.

With over 8,000 students to draw from, they had a good basis for the team. They then lead the clubs first training session in December that year. In early spring, 2008, they were joined by Coaches Withers & Jones. Coach Withers had previously played with the Swansea Dragons & the Gwynedd Knights, where he also helped with coaching. Coach Jones plays Linebacker for the Chester Romans senior team, and has also played at college level in the USA. Due to the fact that they were a new club, they were forced to coach with little contact, and no kit.

The Muddogs have received several offers from other members of the Chester Romans team to help with coaching for the Muddogs 2008/2009 season. Having built a strong core of players in 2008, with several players training with their local BAFL team, the coaching staff is in a position to push for the Muddogs association year with BUAFL in the 2009/2010 season. The Bangor Muddogs are now seeking external sponsorship to build their programme.
